Playtime for Drew

My fifth quilt was made for my nephew’s third birthday. I could not be there, as he lives out west and his birthday is at the end of May and school trucks on whether we like it or not. I adapted a pattern I bought at the AQS show in Lancaster for this one and all fabrics were bought at Burkholder Fabrics, except the backing, which was bought locally at Fabricland. I was thinking ahead to summer vacation when I made this one, as Drew and his family were coming to Nova Scotia, where my parents were renting a farmhouse. I was going to see him twice in one year! Not just at Christmas! I thought I should prepare him for the beaches we would visit and found this adorable fabric panel which I fussy cut into blocks for the quilt.
